Hi, I’m Katy!
Therapist for Moms in NY and FL
Many of my clients come to me looking for support with postpartum depression & anxiety, as well as the difficult transition into being a “new mom”, and how this changes your relationships with the rest of your family.
Not only have I worked with new moms and parents of special needs children for over 15 years, I’m a mom myself, so I understand firsthand the challenges of the “fourth trimester” and entire first year!
I can help you to cope with the added stress and mixed emotions you might be feeling. Having a safe place for you to discuss your concerns, enables you to be better able to care for your child's needs — especially if your child spent time in the NICU, or you or your baby are recovering from a difficult birth experience.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of New York #087661; and a registered out-of-state telehealth provider in Florida, #TPSW1124, https://flhealthsource.gov/telehealth
I graduated from Arizona State and then Adelphi for my MSW. I have an advanced certificate in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) from Adelphi and am Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International. What’s most important is the advanced training has given me the skills to help the 80% of moms who are experiencing the overwhelming feelings come along with being a new mom.
In my off time, I love spending time with my husband and 13 year old son playing rousing games of Dungeons and Dragons, and watching our favorite Marvel and Middle Earth movies. I also can’t resist my guilty-pleasure reality TV shows to unwind at night. I am an avid Star Wars fan, so at times we’ll end a session with: “May The Force Be With You”.
